Dana Brownlee

Instructor

Dana Brownlee has been a successful corporate trainer, author and keynote speaker for more than 20 years. Recognized as a business expert, she's been published/cited in more than a dozen notable publications including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Redbook, Glamour, Money, FastCompany, HuffPost, Entrepreneur, CNN and more. For several years, she worked as a media contributor, fielding thousands of pitches from professional publicists. Noticing how difficult it was for so many amazing, accomplished thought leaders to break through and garner the same level of media exposure without a publicist, she prioritized elevating underrepresented voices and helping to educate along the way. She designed this course to help level the playing field because she firmly believes that you shouldn't need a professional publicist to have your hard work and unique voice amplified.

FAQ

  • Who should take this course?

The course is specifically curated for authors, experts, entrepreneurs and executives who don't have access to a professional publicist but have achieved amazing accomplishments deserving of amplification.

  • Is this course a public relations overview?

While much of the content is helpful from a public relations perspective, the course isn't designed to be a public relations overview. Instead, the scope is focused specifically around how entrepreneurs and thought leaders without a professional publicist can successfully pitch themselves for print media coverage. Because the course is laser targeted in that way, it won't cover many traditional public relations topics (e.g how to write a press release), but it will cover topics like how to leverage your media mentions to enhance your business or career.

  • Is the course anti-publicist?

Absolutely not! Much of the advice and suggestions that the course provides is derived from Dana's experience partnering with an amazing publicist for nearly ten years. If you can afford one, a great publicist is well worth it, but if you can't...we're here to show you how to pitch yourself without a publicist.

  • Will this course show me how to get published in a specific publication?

There's likely no course that can guarantee coverage in a specific publication. Editors and journalists make choices around coverage based on a range of factors. That said, pitching is generally viewed as an effective strategy for securing print media coverage, and the course provides a roadmap that entrepreneurs, experts and executives can use to pitch themselves or their businesses.

  • Will the course teach me how to pitch a business idea or start up to potential investors?

No. It's important to recognize that the term "pitch" is used in different contexts. This course focuses on pitching to journalists or media contributors to gain print media exposure not pitching business ideas or start ups for capital investment.

Stop waiting for the print media to "find you"....start pitching yourself!
